2020-21 Kindergarten Registration

February 23, 2020 0 By Kailee Schamberger

…2+2… how many tens? Entering kindergarten is an exciting transition for you and your child. We begin this process every February to best prepare for your child’s arrival in September. We strive to realize our vision to make every child future ready and this starts the moment your child steps into our schools. …you know what the story is about? Thursday, February 20th marks the beginning of this journey for your child. …think about his day… To find out what you need check our district website or call your school’s registrar. She’ll be able to help you with all the registration materials that you will need to bring to kindergarten registration. Parents need to bring in proof of residency, a lease agreement, mortgage statement, a utility bill. They also need to bring in a birth
certificate or passport for their child verifying their age. They’ll need their students immunization records and also any emergency contacts. Parents can go to the district website and check the school and bus finder. That’s a tool that
the district has where you put in your address and your child’s grade level and
it will pop up with the school you’re assigned to and also any bus route that
your child will use. The district encourages everyone to come in on registration day and get their child registered so that they can project the enrollment for the incoming kindergarten class for the next fall. Regardless of where you live in the Lake Washington School District, whether it be on the east side or the west side all of our kindergarten classrooms use the same rigorous standards …need to…neutralize…neutralize… and teach the same high quality curriculum to build those foundational reading skills for your child. The first thing that we do is we
have them check out the map. This is our particular boundary and they need to
show that they actually find their house within the boundary to make sure they’re
at the correct school. If they’re not, they need to go to their neighborhood school for registration. We’ll give them a packet of information it has quite a few forms to be filled out so they should be prepared that they’re going to be here for a few minutes completing all the information. …that’s an interesting fact isn’t it? We look forward to meeting you and preparing for a successful start for your child’s journey to Lake Washington.
