Grass Valley is showing a prototype here at the NAB Show, a new T2 Ultra HD. Alex, what is new with the latest T2 prototype? This is the first showing of the T2 4K prototype supporting Ultra HD. Basically it has the functionality of the
current T2 supporting one in two out for HD, but also it supports one in two out for UHD. Regarding the framerates, the old T2 has only supported up to i50 or i60, how is it with the new T2? The new T2 will support 60p with UHD and also 1080 progressive. So, it is a 3G solution if you are working
with HD? Yes, with HD it will be a 3G solution supporting HD 1080p. And when working in Ultra HD, you can choose between one player or one recorder, right? Correct. Yes, either one in or one out. And the flexibility that T2 gives is normally that you can use all different kinds of video formats which the T2 can read and support. Many players in the industry, when you come with a XAVC-file or with a MPEG-file or something, they simply would not play it, they need a
specially find file. How is it with the T2? With the T2 II you can play back many types of generic file type formats, QuickTime and MPEG-formats to play out. So that would be the case in T2 being able to support those various types of files. So when it comes to control the T2, what options
do I have? You will be able to control the T2 via AMP
or DHCP protocol. Also it will support RS4:2:2 control from
other outside devices. I see that I have a jog shuttle here, and
here the display, it is a touch screen? Yes, so basically these front panels are working
the same way as the current T2 does, it is a touch front panel with jog shuttle with
playback and rewind control. And is it possible to use the T2 also in a
desktop version? Yes, you can connect a monitor and a keyboard
to use this application like a Windows desktop. So basically the new T2 is like the old T2
but with 60p support for HD and if it comes to Ultra HD it is reduced to the usage of
just one channel in or out. In UHD 60p, yes. When will the new T2 be available? It is scheduled to be available towards the
end of the year, around September, October, IBC time. Okay, so then we are looking forward to see the new T2 at IBC 2018. That is correct, yes. Thank you!
