welcome to an extremely big birthday and
Christmas book haul hi guys welcome back to another booktube video I am really sorry
if this is really dark I have been waiting for like an hour for it to get
light and I can tell it’s getting light outside but this room isn’t
getting any lighter I don’t know why hopefully the lighting in this video
will get progressively lighter as this video goes on also I don’t know what I’m
calling this video this should technically be my December book haul
however this is going up halfway through January so I may just call it like a
winter book haul I don’t know I didn’t buy a single book in the month of
December however I acquired like fifty sixty plus books because it was my
birthday on the first and also obviously Christmas and I got sent a few arcs as
well let’s start with the arcs that were kindly sent to me I’m gonna go through the
books that I received for my birthday so books that were kindly sent to me by my
booktube and bookish friends then also those that were given to me by my
parents and then the same for christmas There is a lot to get through so without
further or do let’s get in to the video as I said I’m gonna start off with the arcs
that I was kindly sent and from Viking and Penguin Books
I was kinda sent a finished copy of all the rage by Cara hunter they also
accidentally sent me another arc of this a proof copy which I’m now gonna pass on
to some bookish friends love this book highly recommend it’s a great crime
thriller HQ books sent me over a stranger on the bridge by Michelle
Campbell I like this this is a domestic thriller I did have some issues with the
synopsis and the fact that it’s kind of a lie but I read this in December and I
thought it was just okay I gave it three stars also they sent me over a finished
copy of the dilemma by BA Paris I didn’t like this book either but they sent me
over her book I’m not quite sure why they didn’t tell me they were sending it
over but I have it anyway and they also sent over
she by HC Warner this is like a domestic drama thriller I don’t want to quite
classify it as a thriller just yet because I haven’t read it and I’m not sure if
it’s actually a thriller because it’s been blurbed by Louise candish and Adele
parks who write kind of like more domestic dramas than thrillers but who
knows I’ll hopefully get to this in January zephyr books sent me over to
sofa surfer by Malcolm Duffy this is a middle grade book all about homelessness
I’m really looking forward to reading this soon and finally for arcs gollancz.. I literally can’t pronounce his publishers name I don’t
know how to pronounce their name at all they sent me over the god game by Danny
Tobey this is a sci-fi YA thriller which I also read in December I thought
it was just okay it was good but it kind of missed the mark for me I’m now gonna
move on to some of the books that were kindly sent to me by my booktube friends
anyone who sent me anything I will link their booktube channel their bookstagram or their twitter whatever they have in the description down below so
make sure you go and check these lovely people out the wonderful charlotte
from books and bargains sent me shame on you by Amy oh my god I cannot
pronounce that surname but this is a thriller I have been interested in
picking this one up for quite a while before she sent it over to me it’s a
thriller that follows someone who’s like a social media influencer that sounds
really really interesting haven’t heard too many people talk about it but thank you
very much Charlotte for sending it my way the wonderful Steph from Steph loves
sent me over two books for my birthday I literally couldn’t believe it she sent me
over a graphic novel I know but I really wanted to read this one and that is pumpkin heads by Rainbow Rowell and Erin faith Hicks this looks such an amazing graphic
novel it looks so autumnal so many people love this and thank you very much
steph for sending it my way because I cannot wait to read this I’ll be saving
it for October she also sent over Tunnel of Bones by V.E schwab or Victoria
Schwab this is the sequel to city of ghosts which I read in 2018 and really enjoyed
unfortunately this one got water damaged it was left on a mat outside my house
all day which they didn’t need to do they could have left it on the recycling
bin or inside the recycling bin so the edges have got water damaged and it’s
all kind of crinkly it’s still perfectly readable but that is quite a shame
because they literally could have put it in the recycling bin and it would have
been fine whatever I’m still really really thankful for Steph for sending it
my way the wonderful cat from Brews and reviews sent me over Dry by Neal
Schusterman and Jared or Jared Schusterman this is YA kind of
dystopian book all about the drought I really like Neal Shusterman’s writing so I
cannot wait to check this out so thank you very much Cat I literally I’m so
excited to read the wonderful Simone sent me over two books for my birthday I
know how exciting she sent me over a good girls guide to murder by Holly Jackson
this is a YA thriller mystery heard lots of great things about it I’m really
excited to check this one out and also sent over deep water by Paula
Daly this is recently been turned into a TV show here in the UK which I haven’t
watched but I was interested to read but thank you very much Simone for sending
it my way I believe this is just a psychological thriller the wonderful Rebecca
sent me over never world wake by Marisha Pesel now I don’t really know what this
book is like I really wanted to read it because it sounds really really good but
I don’t know if you’d cast it as just like YA fantasy a thriller mystery I have
no idea but this is the most beautiful cover I’ve ever seen in my life
thank you very much Rebecca for sending this my way the amazing Laura from what
everyone else is reading sent me the perfect wife this is one of her favorite
thrillers I believe it’s a sci-fi thriller I’m so excited to read this if
she loves it she gave it five stars I’m so excited to
read it and finally for booktube bestie presents
the wonderful Victoria from what Victoria read absolutely spoiled me she
sent me over the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire this
is illustrated by Jim Kay and oh my god it’s absolutely beautiful
I’m so excited to physically own this thank you so much Victoria and it turned
up in a lovely gift bag as well so thank you so much I’m now gonna move on to
books that my parents got me for my birthday they got me the toll by Neal
Schusterman the final book in the arc of scythe trilogy I read this in December
and had a buddy read and I didn’t love it it wasn’t my favorite I was kind of
disappointed by it they also got me the invisible gorilla and other ways our
intuition deceives us by Christopher Chabris and Daniel Simons this is a
psychology book that talks about various ways our intuition deceives us I wanted
to pick this up in December which I did I absolutely loved it it’s a really
really engaging easy to read psychology book and it will really help me with my
research project I absolutely adored this I gave it five stars like it’s such
a good non-fiction book they got me some of the last Stephen King books that I
didn’t only they got me the Bachman books which is a massive kind of collection of his
books it’s got the long walk road work and the running man in it I believe
these are the ones that you can’t purchase on their own if you don’t know this is written under Richard Bachman which is a pen name Stephen King wrote under back
in the day also got me the running man which is also in the Bachman books but I
didn’t realize that and I actually asked for it it’s my fault I should have checked
myself but I’m happy to have this little weirdly shaped book but yeah that is
another edition of the Running Man they also got me the regulator’s I don’t
know what it’s about but it’s another Richard Bachman book

nonfiction book I saw in the works all about Broadmoor sounds really
interesting can’t wait to read it also got me my best friend’s exorcism
by Grady Hendrix I absolutely loved the cover of this because it looks like an
old VHS loved Grady Hendrix’s other book horrorstor so really looking forward
to picking this up they also got me Stillhouse lake by Rachel Caine I believe
this is a thriller horror book I don’t know much else apart from that
but I’ve had really positive things about it so I’m very fortunate to now
own it another psychology book they got me was the science of evil
on empathy and the origins of cruelty by Simon baron-cohen this has massive
massive font which I was delighted to see because non-fiction books typically have
tiny font I really can’t wait to read this I love learning all about
psychopathy and things like that so I’m really really looking forward to
hopefully getting to this soon because it’s really short and it has massive font
also got me the silent patient by Alex Michaelides this was 2019 stand out
thriller everyone’s read it apart from me I don’t know how it’s taken me so long
to get it but I now physically own a copy so I will be reading this as soon
as I possibly can hopefully in January they also got me someone we know by
Shari Lapena this is a domestic psychological thriller I’m not a hundred
percent sure but it’s another really short one I’ve read all of Shari Lapena’s books and enjoyed them all but one so I cannot wait to pick this up also
got me a book on conspiracy theories unsolved conspiracies by bill price I
actually already owned this they just didn’t know so I’m gonna unhaul my other
copy and keep this one but this is just a nonfiction book all about conspiracy
theories finally for my birthday they got me the whisper man by Alex North a
really popular thriller in 2019 and also a gift for dying by MJ Aldridge one of

psychologist so now moving on to Christmas I’m going to talk about some
of the books that again my lovely booktube friends got me for Christmas the
wonderful Simone again she sent me Jane Doe by Victoria Helen stone this is
a thriller I think it’s a psychological thriller it’s been on my radar for ages

ASAP and she also got me my mother the psychopath by Olivia Raine it’s actually
a nonfiction book a memoir true crime I’m so excited to get to this it has
literally the world’s smallest font basically about this girl Olivia whose
mum was a psychopath and that sounds a fascinating read I did a book swap with
the wonderful Fe from a mystery date with a book I’ll leave that video up there and also leave her Channel and her unboxing video in
the description just in case you’ve haven’t seen we did a little bookish swap

absolutely love it and I will whack this out every Christmas she also got me
quiet by Susan Cain now when editing that other video I realized that you
can’t really see this book anywhere so I’ll probably just put a picture up here
the cover is white with the title embossed and I can’t I don’t think you
can see what it says but it’s called quiet it’s by Susan Cain it’s a

it’s a YA thriller set in a boarding school what’s not to love
the wonderful Charlie from Charlie Brook sent me over book love by Debbie Tung
she also sent me over a really cute card as well this is not really a book as
like a fiction book per se but it’s like a kind of like a graphic novel little
book all about like being a bookworm and the best things about being a bookworm
and things like that it’s so cute I’m definitely really gonna enjoy reading
