Learn Live 10: Grouping tracks

It’s really easy to start filling up your Live projects
with lots of audio and midi tracks when composing or producing. Live has a really good feature
that allows you to group tracks called Grouping. Let’s take a look at this now. So here in this Live set I have 16 tracks
and I would like to group some of them. On the right we have 4 keyboard instruments
that I could like to group. I can group tracks by selecting one of the tracks and then holding Shift
and selecting the adjacent tracks. Then, right-click on one of the tracks
and select Group Tracks. The shortcut for grouping is Cmd G on Mac
or Ctrl G on Windows. If you click this icon here,
you can open and close the group. Now the group has its own mixer parameters. Within the group, you can set mixer parameters
for individual tracks. Another unique function of Live is that you can
group different groups together. So first I will group these 4 percussion tracks. Next I’ll group the 3 drum tracks. I can simply select both groups
and group them together.
