Online Registration

For this portion of the orientation we will
be covering, registration. You will need to log onto www.cookman.edu for the University’s
home page. Once you have reached the University’s home page, you want to look in the top left
hand corner and click the link that says Wildcat Web. Wildcat Web is the website where you
can register for classes, check out your balances and other school information as well as the
university’s home page. Wildcat Web is more tailored for your personal needs as the student.
The first thing you want to do is log on, now logged onto wildcat web. As you see, you’ll
have different tabs such as (student) campus life, current student, orientation, that you
can go in and check stuff such as your balance, events happening on campus and what we are
going over now registering for courses. On the wildcat web home page, if you look to
the left hand side, you’ll see a link that says Course Offerings, you will need to click
this link. The next page it brings you to is the course search. Now before we move on,
at the beginning of every semester after you click course offerings you will you will have
to fill out a registration agreement which will be on this page before you are able to
register for courses. Once you click the registration agreement and submit it, it will bring you
back out this area that is showing. Once you click course search, it will bring you the
current page. At the very top you see term, this term is set for the 2016-2017 fall semester.
If you were needing to switch semesters you click the arrow next to the term and pick
the semester in which you were needing to register for. For this demonstration we will
keep it on fall 16-17. Being that you are an online student you will not need the full
list of our course offerings in your search. To narrow it down to just online courses what
you will want to do is come to the drop down bar that says campus. You’ll want to scroll
down and click the link for online, we also want to go to section status, it says open
or full and we want to click open. This will give you all the courses that are open at
this very time. When you click search, it will show you the full course listing, of
all open and or waitlisted online courses. If the course says waitlisted it does not
automatically mean that you will be able to get into the course. You’ll have to wait
to see if other students who are waitlisted for that course, get dropped from that course
and you get moved up. It is on a first come first serve basis. So you typically want to
try to stay away from waitlisted courses if need be and focus on courses that are open.
Now let’s look for the courses that you might need. Say you need a computer applications
course, all you would have to do is scroll down to the bottom of the page or you can
click over to the next page and see CS 132. Or if you need an English 1 (EN 131) or English
2 (EN 132) you are able to find them. Everything is in alphabetical order so it should be pretty
easy to find. Because you are
on a sample page I will show you how you will register for your courses. When you come to
courses offering list in the top left corner for each course you will see a check box you
will click that box for the course that is needed. So, for example, I need English 1
(EN 131), I’ll go find English 1 (EN 131 OO), I’ll click the box that will be up
in this corner (top left of the course), and then I will scroll to the bottom of the page
and right here where my curser is will be a link that says add course. You will click
that link, once you click the link it will take you back out to the course search area.
And at the bottom of the page, here, you will see that you have added the course. Once the
course has been added one of our advisors will go online, approve the course, to make
sure the course is a part of your curriculum. Financial aid will be able to pay for that
particular course. If you add any courses that are not a part of your curriculum, please
keep in mind that financial aid will not pay for the course. This completes the registration
portion of your online orientation. Thank you.
