Record Players | EVERYTHING in 3 Mins!
Hey friends! Welcome back to Vinyl Eyezz!
I’m Jarrett New, and today I’m gonna tell you everything you need to know about
record players in three minutes! Here we go! Number One: a lot of people think that
records should sound Clicky, Poppy, Scratchy..
-all of this is wrong! Take that information and throw it in the garbage
can, where it belongs. If your records sound that way, it’s probably because you
haven’t cleaned them. So keep them clean, don’t scratch them, and you’ll be in good
shape! Number Two: suitcase style record players
are hot GARBAGE. Here’s a rule of thumb.. If the platter is too small for the
record, it’s not a turntable…it’s a toy. Don’t buy it! Now, if you are looking for
a quality turntable that fully accommodates the record, sounds great, and
won’t fall apart in less than a year- check out my awesome recommendations by
hitting that top LINK in the Video Description down below! Number Three: a
lot of people don’t know this, but they still make records in 2019…true story!
and these things are flying off the shelves…or flying out of the crates, if
you will, but regardless with all these major artists releasing their new albums
on vinyl..now is the perfect time to get back into records, or to get into them
for the first time! Number Four: another thing you should know is the “Vinyl Audio
Setup” these are the 4 things you need to make everything work properly.
Turntable. Preamp. Amplifier. and Speakers. So, you could buy these parts separately,
or you could get a turntable with preamp inside, and some speakers with the
amplifier inside. It’s totally up to you as far as what combo you want to go with..
but you are gonna need all 4. And yet again if you want to see the ones I
recommend, the link is down below. Number Five: keep your records away from
the elements! Sunlight, heat, and humidity are no bueno for vinyl records. So if you
want them to survive, keep them on a bookshelf or in the closet, but NOT in
the bathroom, or the car…especially if you live in Arizona or Texas where it
gets really freakin hot! Number Six: you don’t need to spend five grand for a
half-decent setup. Yes, there are some luxury turntables that will spin your
records, do the dishes, and walk your dog but the most important thing of all is
enjoying good music. So if your setup allows you to do
that, and you’re happy with it, then you’re on your way! Number Seven: Here are
the main parts of a turntable as fast as possible: Plinth.
Platter. Tonearm. Headshell. Cartridge. Stylus. Speed Selection. Start/Stop Button.
Power Dial. Spindle. Pitch Adjustment. Counterweight. Anti-skate. And Queing
lever. -If you want to know more about each one of them and what they do, watch
THIS playlist right up HERE! Number Eight: use a small bubble level to
make sure your turntable is completely level. If it’s not, the sound quality will
suffer. Number Nine: Speaking of sound quality, another way to get great
sounding audio is to align your cartridge. If you want to know how to do
it properly, watch THIS video right up HERE! And finally Number Ten: with records
there’s no buffering, no ads, no monthly fees, you’re supporting the artist much
more than if you were just streaming, and you also get to own a beautiful 12-inch
piece of art! Also, when you collect records, you’re collecting memories. No one remembers the first Mp3 they downloaded, but everyone remembers their
first record. So what was your first record? And what do you love most about
record collecting in general? Let me know down in the comments below! Also I hope
this video has helped you in your new record collecting hobby. And if it has, go
ahead and smash this Red SUBSCRIBE button right here, and hit the BELL
notifications, so you won’t miss out on the new videos. And most importantly of
all friends, have an awesome day and Keep Spinning that Vinyl!…was that three
minutes?…I might have gone over.
