Hi. My name is Austin Ramirez. I’m coming to work with my mom today. Today we’re participating in Bring Your Child
to Work Day. It’s a day when parents bring their children
and let them shadow them throughout the day and experience what a day in the life of their
parents work life is like. Today we got to have some kids come in and
learn what we do in our office. We got to have some of them dress up in robes
and do the ceremonies. They had a lot of fun with that. I was in the info booth helping out customers. There was people coming in, getting married,
and also getting their wedding license at the same time. I learned a lot in the IT department. It was a game that simulated actual real life
physics. There’s a lot of things that my mom does that
I didn’t know she did. She works very hard and I’m proud of her. The Assessor-Recorder has approximately 225
employees. We have appraisers. We have auditors. We have clerical staff. We have technical staff. Yes sir? What do you do? What do I do? Well. I’m the County Assessor-Recorder and they
also appoint me as the Clerk. So they can see not only the value of an education
so they can start at a higher level, but those that start at the entry level also have
an opportunity for an advancement. I do think it’s important that we bring kids
into career environments because it does does show them some appreciation of what their parents
do everyday as well as show them some kind of ideas of what life in the real-world is.
